2018 Review
A stalwart on the local dining scene, Wah Lok continues to maintain its reputation for its excellent Cantonese cuisine and stellar service. No surprise then that it has a loyal following, especially when it comes to its popular dim sum lunches. Its spacious dining hall and nine private dining rooms also makes it a popular choice for large dinner gatherings.
At lunch, savour delectable dim sum such as Wah Lok’s signature baked barbecue buns, steamed crabmeat and egg white dumplings, baked diced abalone and chicken pies, and baked mini egg tarts. Other special treats include servings of marinated spiced duck wings with bean curd and deep-fried silver fish.
Soups are the hallmark of any Cantonese restaurant, and indeed, Wah Lok’s double-boiled soups are well-loved by regulars. Try the nourishing braised bird’s nest wrapped with egg white in red carrot soup, or the double-boiled yellow melon soup with seafood.
When it comes to mains, must-orders include the steamed red grouper, roasted pork and pan-fried wagyu beef that is a Wah Lok signature. Complement this with a portion of poached crispy rice with crab soup in a casserole or a luxurious portion of lobster mee sua cooked in a delicious clear broth.
Come dessert, be pleasantly surprised by the unusual twists on staple offerings such as ice cream with avocado cream and homemade soya beancurd served with water chestnut and gingko nut.
