Violet Oon Satay Bar and Grill sets itself apart with interiors that mix old-world charm with modern aesthetics. Its focus here is satays and charcoalgrilled delicacies. Indeed all the satays are outstanding, but the pork skewers stand out by degrees, and the kueh pie tee is also excellent. The delectable beef rendang was incredibly tender, and the nasi goreng Nyonya, tossed with prawns and served with green chilli paste, are the stuff of dreams. End with the ice-cream sundae comprising massive scoops of coconut and gula Melaka ice-cream topped with cashew nuts and gula Melaka syrup.
