In a dining room fashioned after a 1950s-style teahouse, TungLok Teahouse serves all-day dim sum and Teochew favourites. Its location near the Central Business District means it is a popular lunch spot, so avoid peak lunch hour if you prefer not to fight the hordes.

When you do settle in, ask for items like the traditional baked barbecued pork buns, steamed siew mai and cheong fun. Crowd favourites include the steamed truffle dumplings and steamed crystal prawn dumplings.

The list of Teochew dishes includes the likes of fried assorted vegetables in a crisp yam ring and the popular braised bean curd with conpoy crisps. Homestyle dishes like fried omelette with shrimp and fried fish fillet with black bean sauce are light and comforting options.

Naturally, there is a quality range of Chinese teas with which to wash down the scrumptious food.
