2018 Review
Tucked down a narrow passageway, traditional Japanese restaurant Tatsu focuses on sushi and teppanyaki, complete with dedicated sushi and teppanyaki counters. The restaurant’s conservative, almost functional decor should give you a hint of the cuisine here: predominantly traditional, though there are contemporary touches here and there. A good, solid restaurant, the food is consistently good and well executed, and the service is faultless. Its uber central location at Asia Square Tower 2 means that it packs in a good lunch crowd who come for its premium bento meals.
Have the signature pitan tofu, an appetiser of tofu topped generously with a rich, creamy century egg saucethe star of the mealand the seasonal grilled sea bream. The fish is very fresh and grilled to a perfect crisp on the outside, moist and flaky inside. For high-end surf and turf, have the generous seven-course wagyu and lobster set. The lobster and wagyu are served in separate hearty portions, cooked delectably and dripping with juices, and the stir-fried mushrooms and seafood fried rice are nicely done with intense flavours and perfect textures.
*Good to note: They seem to have interesting wine and sake promotions from time to time. Be sure to check in with your server on it.
