Shabestan was born from chef-founder MohammadHosseini’s desire to offer diners an authentic taste of Persia. Indeed, its namesake has been known since ancient Persian times as a place of respite for weary travellers, to enjoy warm breads and delicious roadside cuisine.
Sit indoors near the semi-openkitchen or dine al frescowith a view of the Singapore River as you feast on traditional charcoal grilled kebabs and stews. The best way to sample most of the best dishes is to go the platter route. The appetiser platter offers a selection of the chef’s recommended specialities, including hummus, homemade cheese made using a fiercely guarded recipe, and kash-e-bademjan (stewed eggplant, onions and mint). Likewise, the hearty Shabestan Platter (for two or four) covers the best of the succulent meats with kebabs such as the lamb kubideh (minced lamb), shah pasand chicken, the tekeh masti beef fillet.
