2018 Review
What was once a humble stall in Sembawang is now a hidden gem along Tan Quee Lan street that serves excellent traditional Thai favourites. To start, tuck into a comforting tom kha gai, or coconut chicken soup, with just the right balance of creaminess and spice. Another winning starter is the crab spring rollÂchunks of fresh crab meat encased in a crispy skin and best enjoyed with the accompanying sweet chilli sauce.
The khor moo kurobuta yang, or grilled pork collar, should not be missed. The strips of succulent pork comprising an equal proportion of fatty and lean meat, are deliciously tender and infused with a pleasant smokiness. Those who prefer seafood can try the spicy steamed seabass with a tangy sauce that really lifts the palate.
The curries are equally ambrosial. The popular green curry displays a masterful balance of sweet, spicy and creamy, and is best scarfed down with steamed white rice. To end, order the mango sticky rice, or the durian version if you are a fan of the pungent King of Fruit. The custard-y flesh is an ideal accompaniment to the coconutty glutinous rice coloured a vibrant blue, thanks to the use of butterfly pea flowers.
