2018 Review
Located in the heart of Clarke Quay (with outlets in Robertson Quay and Prinsep Street), Red House Seafood serves fresh, quality seafood to locals and tourists who come to savour one of Singapores most iconic disheschilli crab. The Red House version comprises a full-bodied, robust sauce that is slightly tangy, with just enough kick for the dish to live up to its name. Opt for the reasonably priced Sri Lankan mud crab. Full of firm and sweet flesh, a single one will feed two diners amply. Order some fried mantous to mop up the delicious gravy.
Garlic lovers must try the steamed Scottish bamboo clams that are practically blanketed with minced garlic. Another popular appetiser is the calamari with salted egg, which is heart-stoppingly good. Cooked to lovely golden hue, the lobster baked in cheese is simply delectable. Plump, sweet, smoky and creamy, the dish is a delightful melange of textures and flavours. When ordering prawns, try the version with the restaurants signature creamy custard sauce, which lives up to its name.
To balance out what will prove to be an indulgent meal, order the braised spinach tofu with hon shimeiji mushrooms swathed in a light, tasty sauce. Attentive, warm and friendly service complements a great meal.
