2018 Review
Over the last 47 years, Rang Mahal has carved its name amongst Singapore’s best Indian restaurants. Hidden away on the third floor of The Pan Pacific Singapore, the restaurant marries Indian grandeur with Western polish to create a beautiful, lofty-ceilinged dining room that attracts families, international dignitaries and Bollywood celebrities alike.
The best way to enjoy a meal here is at its lunch buffet, which features many signature dishes including tandoori tiger prawns and chicken tikka, to tomato rasmalai and avocado kebabs. From the a la carte menu, be sure to order the tandoori fondue, which features an assortment of tandoor-grilled chicken kebabs and garlic naan with a rich, moreish cheese tomato makhni dipping sauce. Of course, one would also be remiss to pass on the fantastic freshly made Indian breads like dosai and naan.
Luckily for us, Rang Mahal’s owners make it a point to keep their dishes lighter, swapping cream and ghee for healthier nut and coconut oils. This ensures that diners can enjoy the myriad dishes on offer without feeling uncomfortably full.
Desserts, meanwhile, tend to come with a side of dramathink trolleys, smoke and flambes. But look past all that and youll find a lovely rendition of gulab jamunpillowy soft dough balls soaked in syrup.
*Good to note: Rang Mahal’s expansive wine list is much-lauded, so be sure to give it some attention. Youll find some real gems there.
