2018 Review
Located on the fifth storey of Marina Mandarin Singapore, Peach Blossoms has upheld its high service and food admirably. The menu covers a wide array of Cantonese dishes along with an extensive list of more contemporary options. There is also a selection of traditional dim sum, which can be ordered a la carte, or as an a la carte buffet.
Whet your appetites with the splendid selection of soups such as double-boiled almond flavoured soup with fish maw, and braised shredded abalone soup with fish maw. The restaurant’s signature dish is stir-fried wagyu beef cubes with black pepper and longan. The beef is cooked to succulent perfection, with the black pepper’s heat and longan’s sweetness complementing the meat’s warm, minerally flavours nicely.
While it may not belong to the Cantonese canon, Peach Blossom’s interpretation of chilli crab is well worth a savour—think subtly spiced crab bathed in thick savoury gravy. But do save room for other dishes like the delicately flavoured poached seasonal vegetables with wolfberries and cordycep flower in a superior broth. When it comes to seafood, diners can choose from a list of live seafood and have the kitchen prepare it to theirpreference. For instance, fish like grouper and marble goby can be cooked in eight ways—steamed with soy sauce Hong Kong-style, or braised with roasted pork and homemade beancurd, amongst others.
For desserts, there is a selection of double-boiled sweet soups such ashasma with red dates. Otherwise, try a local delight like black glutinousrice pudding drizzled with coconut cream.
