Casual cosy izakaya Neon Pigeon is good for a loud and funky night out with mates. The wine selection is eclectic, the sake list curated, but it is the cocktail list that excites. Be prepared to pay between $20 and $23 for a cocktail. Food-wise, Tokyo hummus served with crisp bread thins, is a good start. Soft shell crab bao is an interesting take on a classic, whilst the roasted bone marrow is delicious. Recommended too are duck tonkatsu, braised pork belly and spicy baby corn. For desserts, go for Bonsai—a luscious marriage of Valrhona chocolate and green tea.
