If the steady stream of CBD folks checking in for their aperitivos and tapas is any indication, you’re in for a good time here. Besides, My Little Tapas Bar is opened by the same people behind My Little Spanish Place, the tapas institution in Bukit Timah.

The house sangrias are a refreshing start, but do like the Spaniards and reach for gin instead. The spirit is offered four ways here—as a G&T, a dry martini, a sherry martini and a PX martini. Craft brands feature too, such as Citadelle Old Tom Gin and G’Vine Floraison.

Foodwise, gambas al ajillo is the quintessential tapas, and the version at this cosy Ann Siang Hill joint more than hits the spot—incredibly plump and sweet prawns suffused with garlicky flavour. Go off the beaten path and try the berenjena a la Manchego. It is uncannily like toast, but with thinly sliced eggplant in lieu of bread, then baked super crisp with jam and manchego. Pulpo a la gallega is another good bet—a tender leg of char-grilled octopus set over a creamy bed of whipped potato, and generously dusted with paprika to amp up the smoky flavour.
