2018 Review
At My Little Spanish Place, chef-partners Maria Sevillano and Edward Esmero turn out dependably good Spanish classics and offer a popular jamon bar.
Available at both their outlets in Bukit Timah and Boat Quay, their ode to Spanish ham features five styles of cured meats from 48-month-aged Joselito and 36-month aged 5J,to the younger Fermin, which is aged for up to 20 months.
These are well-complemented by their range of Spanish cheeses, which are great for munching on while sipping a glass of wine.
The chefs’ prowess shines in heartier dishes such as a grilled octopus leg with red pepper and saffron tomato pureebeautifully charred on the outside yet tender within. The rib eye tapa with potato puree and veal juscooked to a deft medium rareis also lovely. The paellas are great for sharing. Try the signature paella de la casa, where the rice retains all the flavours of the seafood broth it is cooked in, and is topped with prawns, mussels, fish, chicken and chorizo.
Dessert is always satisfying at My Little Spanish Place. Ask for the luscious chocolate tart to make for a truly rich, sweet ending.
