Mezza9 welcomes with its cosy set-up and warm lighting. From the a la carte menu, start with the crisp blue swimmer crab cake stuffed generously with crab meat, and nuea yang, a Thai-style grilled beef salad, aromatic with parsley, spring onion, tamarind and chilli. It packs some heat but resembles more a stir-fry than salad. The premium sashimi moriawase on ice features tuna, scallops, prawns, swordfish, mackerel, clams and salmon roe. The decent portion and presentation is befitting of its price tag.
The clam and lobster bake, comprising Maine lobster, tiger prawns, Manila clams, black mussels, smoked sausages, sweet corn and potatoes is recommended. The fresh and flavourful dish is served with sourdough loaf and is a great quantity for three. It would be good to note that this dish requires a 30-minute wait so in the meantime, go with an order of Maine lobster with crispy egg noodles, redolent with generous toppings and thick, fragrant gravy. End with the bamboo ash banana flour crepe stuffed with mangoes and passionfruit, and the interesting salted egg custard.
The Sunday Champagne Brunch continues to be a main draw here and worth every penny.
