2018 Review
Now into its third year, Korean chef Sun Kim’s modern Asian restaurant on Keong Saik Road continues to draw the well-heeled gourmet. Situated in one of the area’s characteristic long and narrow shophouses, the most coveted seats in the house are along the kitchen counter, where one catches all the action in the open kitchen. Chef Sun’s cuisine is an amalgamation of influences from the West and his home country Korea, layered with inspirations gleaned from his training under chef Tetsuya Wakuda at Tetsuya’s in Sydney.
Food wise, this translates to creamy Irish oysters paired with ginger, lemon and gochuchang, one of Meta’s longstanding signatures. Classic Korean dishes such as bossam, meanwhile, get a sleek subtle update here with tender fatty pork collar topped with briny oyster leaf and paired with endives. The menu changes regularly to keep things fresh and exciting.
