Maggie Joan’s offers sophisticated vibes and contemporary cuisine. The chef’s tasting menu (from $88 for five courses) is a great way to experience the creative fare here, from every housemade component to its lovely plating. The entrée of hamachi crudo served with edamame, trout roe and almond sauce is exceptional, as is the beetroot done two ways—barbecued and pickled in red wine—served with smoked crème fraiche, candied walnuts and burnt honey dressing. The main courses are equally impressive, particularly the grilled barramundi with creamy Loch Fyne mussels and cavelo nero, where all components meld perfectly into a delectable whole.
