2018 Review
Li Bai Cantonese Restaurant has been a firm favourite with fans of authentic Cantonese cuisine since 1985, and it is easy to see why. The food is consistently good and the service is polished, efficient and attentive.
With an extensive menu filled with a dizzying array of a la carte choices, deciding what to eat here can seem daunting, but the staff are adept at making recommendations.
Traditional Cantonese fare, such as roasted pork and barbecued pork, are succulent and flavourful. The soups are also well-executedtry the popular milky fish maw and sharks cartilage soup, which is rich but not cloying. If you prefer something lighter, the clear seafood soup with winter melon is equally delicious.
Meat lovers will enjoy the pan-fried Japanese wagyu with fresh mushrooms, which is tender and cooked to medium well perfection. Other popular favourites include the sautéed egg whites with fresh milk gravy and scallop, and the stir-fried special fish noodle with prawn in superior stock.
Apart from the a la carte dishes, the dim menu is a huge draw at lunch. Delicate items such as the steamed crystal dumplings with mixed vegetables, and steamed shrimp dumplings with bamboo shoot, are skilfully done.
