The Singapore outpost of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon lives up to itsreputation on every count. The service is impeccable from the momentyou enter the restaurant, proving that dining here is not just about greatfood, but the full dining experience.

As with the rest of the L’Ateliers around the world, the restaurant offers counter seating in front of an open kitchen, giving guests front row seats to the sizzling culinary action. The menu, meanwhile, isdesigned for diners to experience as many dishes as possible, and it is so extensive, it leaves one dizzy with excitement.

For the uninitiated, the 10-course degustation Discovery Menu is agood introduction to the culinary universe of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon.

Each dish is artfully crafted to bring out the best flavours of theingredients. And the kitchen is generous with those ingredients, too.

The elegant caviar and sea urchin entrée with dashi jelly and broccolicream and sprinkled with dainty croutons kick starts the meal with abeautiful play on sweet and savoury flavours. It paves the way for good things to come such as Hokkaido scallops cooked on teppanyaki and spiked with wasabi; and le boeuf, grilled waygu with shallots and eggplant caviar, and served with Robuchon’s famous buttery truffle mash. The piquant preserved shallots cut through the richness of the tender beef perfectly.

Remember to save room for dessert. End the meal with the restaurant’s signature lava cake served with refreshing mint ice cream.
