Jamie’s Italian

Jamie’s Italian’s Singapore outposts stay true to their roots by providing diners with rustic Italian fare spiked with the British chef’s pizzazz. The restaurants are usually packed during weekends, so be sure to make yourreservations. For starters, we recommend ordering the crispy squid to share. Served piping hot, the batter is light and crispy, and a delightful foil to the springy squid. It is served with a tangy, creamy garlicky mayonnaise that’s delicious all on its own. Equally impressive is the classic meat plank heaving with cold cuts such as San Daniele prosciutto, pistachio mortadella, bresaola and hot soppressata, coupled with mini buffalo mozzarella, pecorino and chilli jam, pickles, olives and rainbow slaw. From the pasta menu, the prawn linguine is a fine choice, with al dente noodles slicked with a light sauce of garlic, chillies and fennel, and studded with fresh prawns. Another show-stealer is the wild mushroom and seasonal greens risotto. Firm risotto grains are held together in arich, creamy sauce redolent of mushrooms—perfect comfort food for any occasion.

Meat lovers should check out the hulking 280g ribeye steak that’s cooked to your preferred doneness. It is served with grilled portobello mushrooms, gremolata, chunky chips and gorgeous balsamic-glazed onions. Or go for the juicy grilled lamb chops served with agrodolcepeppers and salsa verde, and the grilled pork chops scented with parsley and paired with apple and kohlrabi (a type of cabbage). At dessert, consider the chocolate molten pudding and Jamie’s Epic Chocolate Brownie. Or get your sweet fix from the range of dessert cocktails, digestifs and espresso-based coffees.
