Located at COMO Dempsey, Ippoh Tempura Bar is a casual restaurant by Osaka’s oldest premium tempura establishment Ippoh, founded in 1850. Opened by chef Masaru Seki, a fifth-generation member of the founding family, the cosy 12-seater serves seafood and vegetables fried in crisp, delicate tempura batter. Highlights include shrimp wrapped with shiso leaf, and sea urchin tempura comprising crunchy fried nori with uni and caviar. Set lunch starts from $40 with six pieces of tempura, rice and miso soup, while its most extensive menu, Yuki ($200) features seafood broth, 11 pieces of tempura, kakiage on rice with shaved truffle and dessert.
