Il Cielo is an intimate, elegant restaurant far from the buzz of Orchard Road. Expect a tranquil setting and good Italian cuisine comprising thoughtful, modern interpretations of classics cooked with a light touch. For starters, the Hokkaido scallops offer a delightful combination of textures. Briny fresh and full flavoured, they are served with earthy roasted mushrooms and pine nuts, creamy bottarga mayonnaise. The generous topping of shaved black truffles adds to the indulgence. The dramatically plated pumpkin charcoal ravioli is good too, with bold sweet flavours from chickpeas cream, red onions, balsamic and more truffles. For mains, get the rack of lamb—moist, pink and plump with a burst of savoury juices at every bite. To end, have the relatively substantial dessert platter which offers a taste of four sweets: a particularly enjoyable lemon pie, coffee gelato, strawberry meringue and a lovely big-flavoured tiramisu.
Service was warm and attentive. The manager checked in on every table with a friendly word or two. And if you’re nice, you may even get a free glass of limoncello.
