Now 11 years old and fresh from a renovation, Guntherâs is still one of the best and most underrated restaurants in town. The service in the main dining room is top-notch: friendly, prompt and polished.
After the menu is presented, a tray of seasonal ingredients comes to the table, part of a show-and-tell of the dayâs specials. Always ensure you get a serving of chef Gunther Hubrechsenâs famous truffle-kissed chilled angel hair pasta with oscietra caviar, whether you order a la carte or one of the tasting menus. Other impressive dishes that you may encounter: The delicately charred abalone, which is a reflection of the chefâs restraint and expertise; and the sirloin steak which is very good even if predictable.
Wines by the glass are most impressive. It conveys how seriously Guntherâs takes its dining experience, and it certainly comes across in a stellar experience overall.
