2018 Review
Located in a charming shophouse along Duxton Road, Etna is a cosy Italian restaurant that offers delicious home-spun Italian cuisine. A popular lunchtime destination, reservations are highly recommended in the afternoons.
The menu offers a good range of freshly made breads and pastas. The homemade lobster ravioli with butter pistachio cream and prawns (ravioli all’aragosta) is a study in the balance between rich and flavourful. It makes a good starter along with the burrata paired with Parma ham. There is also a good selection of meats including slow-cooked beef ribs served with sautéed spinach and mushrooms in a Recioto wine sauce. Other options include the braised lamb shank, and the ribeye and T-bone steaks. A must-try is the Italian-style salt-baked fish (pesce dall’Italia). The fish, encased in a salt shell, is baked to perfection, emerging moist and flavoursome. For desserts, the tiramisu with pistachio paste is worth the calories as are the homemade gelatos.
Etnas wine list is impressive, with a range to suit most palates and wallets. All told, Etna is well worth a visit, especially when you are in need of authentic Italian food.
Worth noting for East-siders, they also have a branch on East Coast Road.
