2017 Review
2018 Review

It’s been a few years since Esquina first made waves on the local dining scene, and we are happy to report that it still remains one of the city’s top restaurants.

Barcelona-born head chef Carlos Montobbio dishes up first-rate tapas built on fresh seasonal produce, many imported from Spain. Regulars come for signatures such as Spanish nigiri, salty bacalao brandade topped with a pristine sliver of sweet roasted bell pepper for a lovely contrast of flavours and textures. Another memorable dish is the Dingley Dell pork jowl—rich, unctuous slices of meat paired with chipotle mayonnaise and pickled pear for a refreshing hit. Then there is Esquina’s Spanish omelette, a dainty fluffy omelette masquerading as a pancake and topped with a dollop of onion confit.

For a more substantial bite, go for the lobster paella that’s beautifully scented with saffron and topped with slippery tongues of sea urchin; the Spanish octopus with Jerusalem artichoke; or try the Spanish suckling pig with rhubarb and apple chutney.

Desserts such as strawberries paired with basil sorbet and marshmallows will not disappoint.
