One of the most successful Taiwanese restaurant chains, Din Tai Fung has long been synonymous with excellent xiao long bao—heavenly morsels of juicy minced pork cradled in delicate dumpling skin with flavourful broth.

But beyond that, the restaurant offers a wonderfully executed spread of other dishes too. Always start a meal here with their bestselling Oriental salad in special vinegar dressing, with crunchy textures and piquant flavours. The fried rice with shrimps and eggs is a must-order, as the chefs here—being true masters of the wok—really know how to bring out the best in simple ingredients. The Oriental wontons with black vinegar and chilli oil is a crowd favourite for its perfect balance of meaty, sweet and tangy flavours. Also highly recommended are the fragrant pork with crushed garlic, an extraordinary cold dish of thinly sliced pork belly wrapped around crunchy cucumber and topped with a divinely pungent, sweet garlic sauce; and the utterly delicious green chillis stuffed with marinated minced meat, deep fried and coated in a delectable secret sauce.

To end, go for the steamed custard buns, pillowy-soft and oozing with warm golden salted egg yolk.
