With a focus on traditional Cantonese favourites, Crystal Jade Kitchen is sure to please those in search of a casual restaurant for a hearty meal with family and friends. Classic selections from the dim sum and congee menu include the delicious baked crispy honey barbecued pork buns and the Ting Zai congee, full of fresh ingredients such as sliced white fish, cuttlefish and shredded pork.

Order the pork belly from the roasted meats menu. It is tender and superbly marinated with the restaurant’s proprietary barbecue sauce. From the wok-fried speciality selection, try the crisp-fried crystal prawn with salted egg yolk or the sautéed beef cubes in black pepper sauce. The latter deserves special mention for its succulent meat, which is well complemented by crunchy bell peppers, onions and fried garlic.

The Fortune 5 Crispy Chicken comes with five sauces, ranging from a mild scallion one to a piquant chilli sauce with a pleasant gingery aftertaste. The rice and noodle selection is extensive, with offerings such as fried rice with crabmeat and conpoy, fried rice with preserved olive and baby abalone, and braised vermicelli with shredded duck and preserved vegetable.

Those craving sweets can opt for the aloe vera with apple jelly dessert for a refreshing end, or the black sesame rice dumplings in ginger soup for something more nourishing and comforting.
