This award-winning establishment under the Crystal Jade Group is best known for contemporary Chinese cuisine in an elegant setting. But unlike its sister restaurants which mostly specialise in Cantonese cuisine, Golden Palaceâs forte lies in Teochew fare.
Begin your meal with one of their signature starters, a trio of sliced Peking duck, deep-fried prawn ball and crab meat salad, offering a lovely variety of textures and flavours. The deep-fried white bait with salt and pepper is also scrumptiously addictive.
Move on to notable gourmet dishes. The chilled yellow cream crab Teochew-style sees the crab steamed first, then chilled and served cold with black vinegar. The roasted baby suckling pig with black truffle rice is a delectable presentation of fragrant, plump rice encased in a roulade of suckling pig crackling. It must be ordered at least one day in advance, and a minimum serving of six pieces. For those who prefer other types of protein, try the baked lamb rack with red wine and black pepper sauce, and the poached grouper with Chinese wine. Both are flavoursome and perfectly cooked.
The restaurant stocks a formidable collection of wines, ranging from affordable, easy-drinking bottles to highly coveted grand crus.
