To set its East Coast Road outlet apart from its more upscale restaurant in Dempsey Hill, Margarita’s renamed itself Comida Mexicana. Owner Vivian Wee continues to cook in the kitchen, turning out excellent homey Mexican fare.

When it’s available, order the crab and avocado quesadillas comprising warm, supple tortillas sandwiching a meltingly delicious filling of cheese,avocado and fresh crabmeat. Everything is proudly made from scratch using ingredients importe[get_bloginfo]url[/get_bloginfo]/files/2018/latin-american/d from mexico, so expect authentic flavours in dishes like carnitas, mexican pulled pork served with warm corn tortillas, red and green salsas, and guacamole; and Mexican Yucatan chicken comprising boneless chicken leg marinated with Achiote and slow grilled to perfection. Wash the hearty food down with a margarita or three—there is a variety that includes one made with Patron Silver and several others mixed with fruit and Grand Marnier.

What’s heart-warming is the sense of familial affectionbetween Vivian and her staff, several of whom have worked with her for many years. This, in turn, translates to genuinely warm customer service and a pride that shows in the way they come together to create an excellent dining experience.
