A luxurious teahouse setting is the backdrop for a tranquil meal at fine dining Chinese restaurant Cherry Garden.

Start with nourishing broths such as golden pumpkin soup with morel mushrooms, or thick superior lobster soup with conpoy. The Peking duck is a must-order, where each sliver of skin is rendered delicately charred, juicy yet smoky crisp. But that’s not all. Often, the second course from the Peking duck is an after-thought. At Cherry Garden, it is a lovely dish of fried noodles with mildly crisp, utterly flavourful shredded duck meat.

Also impressive is the staff’s knowledgeable introduction to other dishes, among which is a piquant steamed red garoupa with pickled chilli. The pan-fried A4 Miyazaki wagyu beef sirloin with garlic barbecue sauce is supremely tender and hits high umami notes.

Make space for their creative desserts too. Apart from classics, there are also colourful renditions such as cherries in nui er hong and aged kuei hua wine cocktail jelly with lychee sorbet.

Return for weekend dim sum brunch featuring unique morsels such as prawn dumplings with black garlic and kurobuta char siew bao.
