An Italian stalwart in our dining scene, Burlamacco Ristorante enjoys a loyal following since opening in 2012. Here, chef-owner Gabriele Piegaia showcases classic Italian dishes from his Tuscan heritage.
Start with classics such as burrata, flown in from Italy several times a week, paired with Parma ham. For mains, the caccuccio is a hearty yet elegant seafood soup brimming with fish, lobster tail, mussels, clams and prawns. Its restrained depth of flavour pays tribute to Piegaia’s years of culinary experience. For the carnivorous, the signature homemade pappardelle comes swathed in a rich, meltingly tender pork leg ragout, marinated in red wine for a week. Another musttry is the linguine in a slightly fiery arrabbiata sauce—sweet and spicy flavours perfectly balanced—and crowned with fresh Boston lobster tail.
Finish off with the classic tiramisu and a decadent dark chocolate crostata tart. Its gooey, indulgent chocolate centre and contrasting crunch holds the dessert together and pairs brilliantly with an espresso.
Weekday set lunch starts from $38 for three courses, while the four-course degustation is $58, or $88 with wine pairing. Its enticingly priced Sunday Brunch ($88) remains popular, with free-flow espresso martinis, prosecco, bloody mary and house pours.
