This laidback bistro may be famous for its Belgian beer and mussels, but with its wide varied menu, there is something for everyone here. Its al fresco dining area is perfect for shooting the breeze too—a bonus in our books.

Mussels are definitely the highlight here. There are 13 flavours to choose from, and they come with an unlimited serving of crisp golden fries. The Brussels Sprouts Special is highly recommended—mussels cooked with white beer, parsley, butter, onion, celery and leek. For more adventurous palates, go for the Asian flavours that come with plenty of heat and kick, such as chilli crab, devilled with bird’s eye chillies, curry, Thai sweet chillies and tom yam.

Mussels aside, Brussel Sprouts also dishes up Belgian-inspired signatures like beer-battered fish and chips, beer-battered chicken wings, toast cannibal and sausage mitraillette. Other classics available include crab bites and Belgian nachos and cheese for starters; and for mains,seven-hour braised lamb shoulders, chicken shepherd’s pie, beer butt spring chicken, filet Americain aka beef tartare, and a variety of pastas.

At dessert, the giant profiterole is a showstopper. Served with a choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream, the pastry is light, airy and delicately crisp. Pair the food with the likes of Leffe and Hoegaarden, or choose from a wide variety of bottled Belgian beers.
