Brasserie Gavroche
Step into Brasserie Gavroche and you’ll be transported to a charming bolt hole in Paris. Indeed, the antique bar at this rustic French bistro was sourced and imported from the famed Café de la Paix in Paris. Most of the dishes here are derived from time-honoured recipes by chef Frederic Colin’s grandfather Henri, so expect classics such as a terrine of Perigord duck liver and plump escargot baked in butter in their shells.
Particularly enjoyable is the onglet steak. The hearty drizzle of red wine shallot sauce served with this lean cut of beef brightens the meat’s earthy flavours. Duck confit, meanwhile, gets an indulgent spin, as the kitchen shreds the tender flesh and bakes it under a blanket of crushed potatoes and gratinated bacon. It is lavish, delicious and above all, comfort food that will satisfy.
