There’s plenty to like at Beach Road Kitchen. Take its classy, atmospheric setting for starters. No doubt about it—buffet is a chic and civilised meal around these parts, perfectly commensurate with the rest of the very sleek JW Marriott Singapore South Beach property.
We also like the fact that the selection on offer is varied and wide enough without tipping into surfeit. The highlight here is the seafood room, a dedicated space showcasing creatures from the deep—from freshly shucked oysters to fresh jumbo prawns, lobster, crayfish and even squabbies on ice, depending on season and day of your visit. Of course, there’s the requisite sashimi on offer. Here, they slice it to order, ensuring utmost freshness. There’s also a very respectable selection of ceviche, gravlax and myriad seafood carpaccio and salads. For Sunday brunch, you get to pick fresh whole fish cooked to order.
But Beach Road Kitchen is not just good for seafood. The meat selection is pretty respectable too, with a hefty hunk of prime ribs and an impressive hulk of lamb on show when we visited, both tender, juicy and all the meat one can hope for.
While it’s perfectly understandable why you would zero in on the excellent seafood and meats, do save stomach space for the more humble selection such as the black truffle mushroom pizza with crisp thin crust; laksa with its rich, aromatic sauce; and last but not least, the goodie-laden dessert station.
