Tucked away in a corner of Serangoon Gardens, Italian restaurant Baci Baci is a neighbourhood joint with the essential bells and whistles of a smart restaurant. It runs an almost-full house even on weekdays, with largely good food and smooth, friendly service.
From its wood-fired oven—a surprising find in a neighbourhood eatery—come a good array of delightfully chewy, tasty pizzas. The classic pizza bologna was most enjoyable—large and laden with smoky ham, lashings of cheese and intense tomato passata, sprinkled with pistachios. The eggplant parmigiana in tomato is full flavoured and comforting, while the moist, squid-ink seafood risotto was large enough to share, and tasty with plump fresh prawns and squid. For desserts, they do a very enjoyable tiramisu.
