When it comes to hearty, authentic Spanish fare, head to My Little Spanish Place which welcomes diners into its cosy, rustic interior. Helmed by chef-partners Maria Sevillano and Edward Esmero who set up shop in early 2010, it has since expanded to include outlets at Boat Quay, and sister brand My Little Tapas Bar. Its growth over the years is testimony to their consistency and quality.

To start, order a selection of five different styles of jamon from the jamon bar: Fermin, Montaraz, Juan Pedro, 5J and the premium Joselito. All five legs that occupy the bar hail from different regions in Spain. Move on to tapas such as lightly fried jamon-stuffed creamy croquettes, and the house special octopus, pulpo de la casa, which is perfectly grilled and seasoned with smoked paprika. Its supple, springy texture and deliciously subtle char make it a crowd pleaser. For mains, the signature suckling pig is a must—slow-roasted in white wine and garlic to eke out irresistibly crispy skin and fork-tender meat. It is offered in quarter, half or whole portions. Advance order is required.
