A cosy French bistro nestled along Keong Saik Road, Taratata Bistrot is a welcoming space, with plush banquette seating, oak furniture and private booth seats. Street gas lamps form part of the décor, evoking the romantic mood of Paris.

Helmed by chef owner Bertrand Raguin, the food is as rustic and homely as the restaurant’s setting. Start with a warming traditional French onion soup filled with depth and flavour. Alternatively—or additionally—go for the beautifully plated pâté en croute of duck foie gras and veal sweetbread, or the rich and flavourful grilled foie gras and Landes quail egg with dark morello cherry sauce. Definitely order the excellent duck confit with morel mushroom sauce served with Sarladaise potatoes that are crisp and tender all at once. Another indulgent choice is the black Angus tenderloin and grilled foie gras with winter truffle and potato Dauphinois.

End the meal with the daintily constructed pear tart that’s thin, crisp and scrumptious served with vanilla ice cream. But be prepared to wait 20 minutes after ordering for it to make its way to your table. Be sure to complement your meal with a few French wines from the restaurant’s extensive wine list.
