Irrefutably French, Brasserie Gavroche serves some of the best French classics in town. Made based on chef-owner Frederic Colins grandfather Henris recipes, the likes of escargots de Bourgogne, foie gras pate en croute and French onion soup are unimpeachably delicious.
Other signatures to try include the fish quenelles paired with rich crayfish sauce and the excellent steak onglet with shallot confit in red wine sauce and served with hot roasted potatoes.
The service is as warm and polished as the food, while the wine list is heavy on Old World labels, including a good by-the-glass selection. Just stepping through its weathered blue doors and into its rustic chic dining room is enough to transport guests to a brasserie in Paris.
