This Singapore outpost of the award-winning Taiwanese restaurant lives up to expectations with a succinct but varied menu featuring the famous steamed pork dumplings (xiao long bao) alongside Taiwanese-style snacks and other staples.
Top on the list of must-order at Din Tai Fung is, of course, its signature steamed pork dumplings, long considered the industry standard. The dumplings are prepared with freshly-made dough, filled with premium minced meat and a rich savoury broth, and finished with a minimum of 18 delicate folds each. Other delicious spins on the humble dumpling include steamed vegetable and pork dumplings, steamed crab dumplings filled with fresh crabmeat, and pork dumplings with truffle. Alternatively, try the red bean dumplings with chocolate lava, a veritable taste sensation with its smooth luscious filling.
Another signature not to be missed is the Oriental salad of finely sliced beancurd, bean sprouts, julienned seaweed,red chilli and vermicelli lightly tossed in a tangy moreish vinegar dressing. Din Tai Fungs flagship restaurant serves exclusive dishes that is only available at Paragon. In particular, try the deep-fried handmade tofu with water chestnuts and mushrooms; and soy-marinated Shanghainese smoked fish, sliced leather jacket fish steeped in a special marinade featuring exclusively imported Taiwanese soy sauce and premium Chinese wine.
