Hailing from the family behind the three Michelin-starred Da Vittorio in Lombardy, Italy, the Cerea brothers Enrico and Roberto opened Fratelli with the intention of bringing traditional Lombardy cuisine to Singapore. The restaurant is split into two sections—the dinner-only trattoria for an authentic Italian dining experience and the pizzeria for a more casual meal.
From the dinner menu, start with the simple, delightful insalata caprese that showcases creamy buffalo mozzarella with a medley of sweet and juicy vine tomatoes. Homemade basil pesto and balsamic vinegar add another dimension to this refreshing starter. Follow up with the hand-cut pasta maltagliati pasta that’s perfectly cooked al dente and paired with homemade pork sausages and sautéedporcini mushrooms in a tangy hearty tomato base spiked with parsley. For mains, order the succulent pan-seared cod, which comes on a bed of Sicilian yellow tomato coulis and scamorza cheese topped with a saffron-scented potato foam.
The pan-seared angus beef tenderloin is pure indulgence and highly recommended. A generous portion of foie gras rests on a hunk of lightly charred, flawlessly cooked beef. The meat is tender, flavourful and scented with a subtle smokiness. The accompanying brioche and crispy ratte potatoes are a perfect foil to the richness of the meat. Adding to it all is a generous, aromatic sprinkle of black truffle shavings. Each ingredient is delectable in its own right and when put together, adds up to a main that is hard to top.
For dessert, the updated tiramisu modern and the decadent warmsea-salt chocolate fondant tart are delicious and fail-safe choices.
