The best seats in the house at this opulently appointed restaurant are by the window overlooking Orchard Road. From this vantage point, nosh on excellent Chinese fare the likes of crisp-fried tofu in black truffle sauce. Pan-seared foie gras is served with a Peking duck reduction, while the roasted pork belly with an incredibly crisp crackling is one of the best in town.
The dim sum options are also divine, especially the fried carrot cake in XO sauce and barbecue pork buns. Order a basket of salted egg custard-filled buns and eat them carefully. The molten centres are indubitably delicious, but they are served very hot.
Desserts are as delicious as they are creative—coconut ice cream served over chilled mango, sago and pomelo, and chilled avocado purée with coffee ice cream.
With food this good, the restaurant fills up quickly. Reservations are essential.
