Owned by the TungLok Group, Lokkee presents a collection of Western-influenced Chinese cuisine inspired by the Chinese diaspora in cities like London, San Francisco and Sydney. The menu is thoughtful and inventive, with lip-smacking appetisers such as a basket of salted egg crispy fish skincrackers and spicy Sichuan mala seasoned fish fries.
Two dishes stand out from the main menu: Battered oysters tossed in cereal and fine threads of egg floss combine the best elements of two popular local dishes—oyster omelette, better known as orh luak, and cereal butterprawn. Then there’s the Awesome Flaming Pineapple Beef, which as its name suggests, is a pineapple set alight at the table with a serving of braised beef with pineapple chunks in its shell.
The desserts are equally fun and tasty. Enjoy mushroom-shaped buns filledwith custard and dusted with cocoa, playfully called “magic mushrooms”.
